LOS MURCIÉLAGOS​

 

In the series of new works, "Los murciélagos," Andrew Alba confronts assimilation and cultural identity through interactions with beloved kitchen stove tops, flowering gardens, and questionable landscapes that represent both tradition and displacement.

Painting love medicine of cultural nourishment, Alba symbolizes his reflections of family existing amongst external threats, reminding the viewer to honor the strength of immigrant narratives. Warm colors and rough textures evoke the heartache of ancestral harmony inflicted by a menacing presence, emphasizing the struggle for familial peace amongst the colonized and dark religious framework we all experience.
